DEVOTIONAL: Dear Broken-Hearted Girl,

I know that it hurts right now and you just wish the pain would go away. I know it feels like no one understands. The clouds in your heart make you feel like it will never ever ever get better. But it DOES get better. Those tears that you are crying right now will transform themselves into deep, hearty laughter. And that pain that you are feeling deep in your chest, that pain will evolve into pure joy. Don’t let anyone ever steal your shine. YOU ARE A STAR. An amazing spirit that was carefully and wonderfully made by God. You may be upset for a little while — but just know that after thirty days are up you have got to start letting go. Don’t let the pain fester and build. Feel your emotions. Cry. Scream. Be angry even. Do what you need to do (without hurting yourself or others) to cope; grieve, so that you may heal. Continue to push on because your purpose on this earth is greater than any pain could ever be. I can guarantee you that. On that 30th day, pick yourself up and LIVE YOUR LIFE. Nobody is allowed to define nor confine you. YOU have power. Recognize that, recognize that your power is yours and no one elses. No one can define you or what you are worth. You are beautiful, strong, and intelligent. Do not ever think that you need to lower your worth for others. Make people RISE to your level; rise to where you are. Those who really love you for you will RISE to the occasion; they won’t try to make you change or disrespect yourself, your morals, or your beliefs. I know it seems scary right now but you will make it through this. And when you do you will have experience, wisdom, knowledge, and strength..You may be the broken-hearted girl today but soon you will be the Happy, Dauntless Girl…

Smile…if no one loves you, rest assured that GOD LOVES YOU.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Phillippians 4:6-7

Love, Elinah
